Our Solar System

Our essay is over the Solar System! Our Solar System is made up of

eight planets and one dwarf planet. The Solar System also includes an

asteroid belt and one star, our Sun. The first thing we will tell you about is

the first object in our Solar System, our sun. The sun is a regular star. Like

all of the other stars, it is a gigantic ball of burning gas. Its source of power

comes from the core, where the temperature reaches up to 27 million degrees

Fahrenheit. With out the sun it would be dark and cold and there wouldn’t be

any life.

The next object in our solar system is Mercury. Mercury is hot by day

but cold by night. If you were to walk on the day side of Mercury you would

be able to see the sun two and a half times bigger than from Earth! Mercury

has no moon at all. Also Mercury doesn’t have an atmosphere, which is

why it has so many craters from asteroids like a moon. The only space probe

that has ever been to Mercury was Mariner 10 that got there in 1974.

The next planet in the solar system is Venus. Venus has clouds of acid

covering its surface. On Venus the temperature is high enough to melt lead.

The atmospheric pressure on Venus is so heavy that it can crush almost

anything within seconds. About 85% of the planet’s surface is covered in

solidified lava. Lowland plains on Venus were created by where lava flows

have spread out, and if there were water on Venus, the lowlands would be oceans like Earth’s. Venus might be a little more like Earth if it did not get hit by an asteroid that made it spin the other way.

The next planet is our home planet Earth, and its moon, Luna!!

Earth is the only planet that has life forms on it. Earth also has water on its surface, which takes up ¾ and the other ¼ is landforms on its surface. Earth also has earthquakes, mountain ranges, volcanoes, plains, and teeming with life! Of course this planet is made up of...
