There are two parts to this first team progress report and both need to be completed following the instructions given: Samples are given to assist you in this task.

PART I - Team Norming Stage

Please review the five stages of effective team building in preparation for this part 1 of the task; forming, norming, storming, performing, and adjourning.

Complete each of the following:

1. Explain how the team members were chosen/assigned (forming stage) and your thoughts on the process.

Roles were assigned randomly and people have traded roles with on another as they see fit as they do the work or find information through constant group communication.

2. What is needed to be accomplished in the norming stage and by when?  Be very specific as to what norms your team either has or will consider for building a highly effective team. List a minimum of 5 with an explanation/rationale of each.

Norming is similar to team building in the sense that it’s the time were you get to know each other and find out what the goal is for the team rather than compete against each other. In this stage we decide what are our skills and what we bring to the table in the form of skills. In order for the team to be highly effective it will need:

1. Increased Cohersion: The members must unite and act as one

2. Collaboration: Members will work together in order to ensure a great result

3. Emerging trust: We will trust each others skills to finish with good results and on time, and allow time to help each other as well when needed

4. Appreciation of differences: Value each others background and ideas as these could be very helpful by being different, thinking outside the box
