The pericardium consists of fibrous tissue and the outer layer is called the parietal pericardium.

The four chambers of the heart are called the left and right atrium and the left and right ventricle.

8. What valve lies between the right atrium and the right ventricle?

The tricuspid valve lies between the right atrium and the right ventricle.

The mitral valve lies between the left atrium and left ventricle. This valve closes so the blood will not flow back into the atrium.
