The 360 Degree Leader is a book about leadership for people who are not only in the
middle of their careers (i.e. supervisors, assistant managers, manager, etc.) But also can be
applied in a military aspect. Looking at the challenges of leadership and management, the lies
people believe, and a whole lot of strategies for growth; This book tackles leadership from all
angles.
The clever acronyms and catchy phrases coupled with a lot of personal illustrations and a
heavy dose of empathy make this book very interesting to read. Essentially it holds the same
message as many of his other books: leadership is nothing more or less than influence, so if
you’re nice to people, particularly those who already have influence, your leadership skills and
opportunities will grow. It’s not quite a career planning handbook, i’ts more about developing
the skill of leadership wherever your career has found you. He further notes the procedures
behind how to become a more enlightened leader. His major goal is to build a strong public
education that will help the children to easily enhance their skills, and to support the needs of
the students primarily with regards the moral and spiritual values.
This book can directly be related to military members of all ranks. It is a great tool to
utilize if you want to better yourself as a leader. It can also be used to determine exactly what
type of leader you are currently, how you can improve your leadership abilities in the present,
and where you would like to be in the future. Leaders today face the challenge of influencing
people from all sides of an organization. Yet, many managers with leadership responsibilities
feel that because they are not the main leader, they cannot influence their bosses, peers, and
subordinates. These leaders have to get along with everyone and survive the dynamics of
leadership.
