Over the years the US has become very dependent on fossil fuels. We need to take a step back and look how it is damaging our earth and how before we know it, we will be in a state of entropy and there will be no time to look back. It's time to take a stance now and do something about this dependency on fossil fuels. Energy is simply stated as the ability to do work. An alternate energy source that could replace these carbon-rich deposits is a combination of wind and solar power.

Wind power is one of the most powerful elements. Being able to convert wind power into useful forms of energy by using windmills for mechanical power or wind turbines to make electricity is a good start. Wind energy is an alternative to fossil fuels and there are many advantages to it. For starters it’s, widely distributed, meaning half the work is already done for you by Mother Nature. All we have to do is build something to convert this free energy and turn it into power. It’s renewable and plentiful in the right places such as mountain tops or open land in the west or over the water in the east such as the Great Lakes. Best of all its clean and produces no harmful toxins or emissions like fossil fuel. According to Stanford University study published in the Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology, (2007) studies show, that if you connect over ten wind farms it can allow an average of 33% of the total energy produced to be used as reliable. The largest wind farm in the US is Rosco Wind Farm located in Rosco TX. It holds 627 wind turbines and provides electricity to over 250,000 Texan homes. (O’Grady) There are many more of these wind turbines around the US and have a growing demand.
