Remember The Titans

Remember the Titans was a very heart felt movie, in this movie it showed the struggles of black and whites mixing in society, and how the blacks pulled through. It also showed the ways in which society has changed and the process of socialization. It showed different cultural changes, some for the worst, and some for the best. They all fought, and had their differences, but in the end came together as one to get to their goal, win the championship game.

In the beginning of Remember the Titans, the white community of Alexandria, Virginia, was very cautious and upset that they were mixing blacks and whites, especially in the schools and with the football players and coaches. You could clearly tell that the coaches went their own ways, Coach Boone took defense and Coach Yost took offense. It wasn’t fair at first at the boot camp, because you could tell the whites were very stand offish about sharing the field with blacks, whom they’ve grown up their whole life thinking they were all bad people. One of the three ways that culture changes in Remember the Titans is Invention. I think that invention is portrayed in this because not only in the community, but also with the football team, the blacks and whites learned to work together and took their different beliefs, and methods of football and made the team work to have a perfect season of 13-0 State Champions. It was very hard because for T.C. William’s High School, football wasn’t just a game, it was life. When the court ordered the high schools to combine, and Coach Yost was asked to step down from head coach to assistant coach, the community was
