The Job I would love to do in the Hospitality Industry

About 15 years ago. I developed this passion for cooking. I would cook for my friends while living in the barracks in Germany. They told me I was wasting my skills and that I need to pursue becoming a chef. Ever since that day, I have watched many episodes of celebrity chefs on television shows, such as, Big Daddy’s Kitchen, Emeril, and Secrets of a Restaurant Chef among others (Food Network Channel). I must say, I have also cooked some of their recipes, even gone as far as modifying them to please my guests who were very impressed with my skills.

I know there are other options out there that will help me in becoming a very successful chef. Many shy away from career options, such as; the food service industry, lodging industry, club management, the cruise line industry, gaming and tourism industries. An in-depth exploration is needed for each, and then one can make the right choice.

As mentioned above, the food service industry is definitely the one of my options. This is an industry that provides fast, healthy, convenient, and inexpensive food for people to eat. Food services are broken down into different groups, like: Quick-Service Restaurants (QSR), Fast-Casual Restaurants, and Casual Restaurants are some of the most popular ones. QSR are those types of restaurants that provide fast food services for its customers throughout the world. QSR started back in the early 1900s when the first hot dog cart was created (Carl Karcher in 1941). Ever since then, other eatery started to pop up all over the United States. The most famous of all QSR is the McDonald’s Restaurant. It started out as a small drive thru burger place whose food was served fast and hot. Within five years, McDonald’s had opened more stores and was providing the same services to other cities in the United States.
