Given that the company I work for is in an industry that is not directly affected by the coming elections, I decided to do this study focusing on a different industry where the elections has a greater impact, specifically the printing industry. Since this would span a very comprehensive variety of services, this study will only scope in those industries whose services cater for campaign paraphernalia e.g. campaign pins, T-shirts, aprons, bang sticks, baller Ids, refrigerator magnets and car stickers, to name a few.

1. Explain the impact or implications of the following on the forthcoming elections:

1. Demand for goods/services:

Based from researches, studies, and interviews conducted during the election campaigns, it is quite clear that the demand for goods and services from the printing industry rise significantly during this period. This would primarily be due to the fact that these types of products are used as one of the main vehicles to stamp the candidate’s name to the voter’s mind. The candidates use these products to campaign themselves and promote their slogans across the nation. They order these items in bulk volumes to be given away to the different towns and cities they campaign in, which more often than not, cater to the class D and E population whose numbers are large. Some candidates even go all out and order all types of campaign paraphernalia to be given away to the public because though this would not guarantee a sure election results for them, it has been a well proven, tried and tested method that helps promote the candidates positively. Since majority of the country’s voters, truth be told, come from the class that has been identified as the masses, making oneself known among them can provide a very valuable effect on the overall result of the campaign.
