Subject: Computer Programmer as a career choice

Introduction:

I’m currently attending Robeson Community College in pursue of a degree in Computer Information Technology, with hopes of becoming a computer programmer. According to the “Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook: Computer Programmers” the role of a computer programmer is to “write code to create software programs” (Labor), which is what helps the applications stored on computers to run properly. The computer programming field is a very well paying occupation, which helped with deciding to make it a career choice. Also, the variety of different languages that programmers use is very intriguing if one wants to know the work that goes into producing what is viewed on the computer screen. Computers are such a mainstay in everyday lives that it should be fascinating learning about them both inside and out.

Money/Benefits:

Previously mentioned was that computer programming is a well-paying job, but to be more specific “Onetonline.org” states that nationally the average amount that computer programmers make is around 72,630 yearly as recent as last year (Summary Report for Computer Programmers). So if one were interested in the field of computer programming it is safe to say the compensation is well worth it. When choosing a career in computer programming another thing to look at is the benefits provided as a worker. Although, they may vary depending on one’s employer “iseek.org” implies that “Full-time programmers usually receive typical benefits. These include vacation, sick leave, health insurance, and a retirement plan” (Computer Programmers ). When taking up a career in computer programming one can burdened with having to work long hours to complete a task, so it’s good to know that there are rewarding benefits for dedication and commitment...
