Save Our Planet for the Future Generations!

In her article “ Watching As the World Vanishes” (The Philadelphia Inquirer, January 1, 2006 |) Roxanna Robinson points out to the problem of the first importance: humanity and the planet Earth are facing the beginning of the “third world war”, the war which has a great potential to destroy not only us, humans, but also hundreds of other species of animals. The touch of this war is not just about involving certain countries or territories, but consequently, is about all counties being engaged in it and taken to the frontier. We, people, are two steps away from the global warming, the danger that we can not yet comprehend.

Roxanna Robinson starts her article with the description of the endangered species – polar bears: “They are supreme, but they are dying, victims of something too large for even them to combat. Their habitat - the Arctic ice cap - is vanishing, because of global warming. Their presence on this planet will depend on our response to their plight.” Nevertheless, later it becomes clear that it’s just the beginning of Robinson’s conversation with the reader. The topic of her article gets broader. The reader starts to realize that polar bears are just the ones that have already experienced the danger of the global warming. Nevertheless, they are not the last in the green peace list.

At first sight, the danger of global warming doesn’t seem very scary. We, people, hear about it all the time. We grouch from time to time, pointing out that government should take some measures. However, we all are so busy with our lives, working, studying, and doing the things we need to do, that we take the problem of Global warming not serious enough. A flat tire often gets us upset much more, than the invisible threat, which is so hard to notice.
