Communication Theory
The communication theory can be defined in a number of ways. When one is a part of a group or team, then that person must learn to communicate within his or her group. In today’s society, group members must use various resources to communicate properly amongst one another. Many organizations require their employees to have excellent communication skills so that the teams within the companies can collaborate well together to be beneficial to the company. This paper will discuss communication techniques; discuss how gender and cultural differences affect communication in the workplace; and identify possible solutions to improve communication.
Communication Techniques
Many communication techniques exist across the world. Listening, expression, accepting positive criticism, avoiding arguments, understanding the audience, and proper feedback are all examples of effective communication techniques (Buzzle.com, 2010). There are direct, indirect, open, and reserved communicators within groups inside the workplace. Each member can provide emotional support to one another to keep a positive atmosphere between them, thus making their teamwork more efficient, effective, and beneficial to the company. Using various techniques to communicate with one another within the teams is an advantage each colleague possesses. Certain techniques may encourage the patients’ active participation in medical dialogues.
Gender and Cultural Differences
Gender and cultural differences have a major impact on communication within countless organizations. Centuries ago men believed they were more dominant than women. Therefore, men would not allow women to work or anything outside the home. As years passed, women became more powerful. Women began working and doing similar jobs that the men were doing.
