HIV is a stigma in many if not all countries however, in Keya, the stigma is great. Many women especially those that are of childbearing age do not get the proper prenatal care that is provided to them due to fear of being tested for HIV and having people know they test positive for this disease. It has become a problem in Kenya providences because only 44 percent of women deliver in the clinic while others deliver elsewhere to avoid being tested even though the medications and treatments can potentially save their lives and the lives of their babies. Many women in these providences do not only fear being tested but they fear if they are shown to be positive, they will be kicked out of their homes by their family or be stigmatized as a prostitute. (McNeil 2012)

* The factors that contribute to this health issue are what women have to face if they are tested positive for HIV.

* This health issue does not only affect the women who are infected with HIV but affects their children who are born to them. It also affects their family such as their husbands if they infect them as well. Can be a cascade effect.

* There is information missing in this article such as, how they were infected in the first place, why don’t they have programs that help women who are infected and are pregnant but make it confidential, and if there is such a stigma in Kenya then why do so many people have this disease. It seems people should be more understanding and try to do something about this epidemic.

* I agree with the fact that they tried helping women who are pregnant and might have HIV but I think they went about it the wrong way by saying they promote health care to women especially for those who are HIV infected mothers.

* There really isn’t a certain perspective presented in this article but merely facts about the stigma of HIV in Kenya.
