While walking through the grocery store, one cannot help oneself from noticing the images of open farmlands and healthy animals on the packaging of various dairy and meat products. To the customer purchasing these products, these images convey a message of freedom and security. When this consumer opens the package of chicken cutlets, they are led to believe that their chicken was born and raised under the watchful eye of the chicken’s proud farmer. Although it may seem that all animals are treated well, the American public is ignorant of the travesties that occur behind businesses’ closed doors. Just because animals are not human and cannot voice their opinions, does not give the business world the right to perform animal cruelty. Does the overpopulation of animals give a company the right to take advantage of them? Animals are nothing like humans, yet research companies still use animals for experiments in order to test various products. In the eyes of the company, animals are worthy of testing products that will eventually be sold to humans, but still these animals are not worthy of living in proper conditions. These animals are forced to endure endless suffering and pain at the hands of humans. The food industry has transformed farming into a corporation, as animals are no longer viewed as living creatures, only products. Multi-million dollar companies abuse and mistreat animals because in today’s day and age, only making money matters. While many companies may feel that mistreating animals is acceptable, they are only making society worse, one cow after another.

Humans and animals, aside from being living organisms, are extremely different species. Many animals are overpopulated and are extremely accessible to companies who conduct research on products. Therefore, corporations believe that they are able to take advantage of these creatures by performing experiments that are too dangerous for humans.
