In the present era, technology changed the way people shop and sell commodities. Much of the shopping and selling is done on via major e-commerce sources like Amazon and e-Bay. Both companies are a source of revenue for traditional brick and mortar companies, which give the traditional ones the opportunity for capturing the promise of Internet technology that is efficiency, reliability and reach to millions of consumers online. It is mentioned in the book Business Driven information System that in the end of the year 1999, 55 million people (60%) was shopping online. (Baltzan, Paige 2011). The primary focus on this paper will be on e-Bay that does not have any stores but conducts business entirely online. Online auctions have become a common trend of e-commerce. E-Bay was a concept that was thought among a couple. The wife expressed her idea to her to be husband who executed the project and launched a company known as Auction Web that was later changed to e-Bay.

E-Bay allowed the sellers to post the description of their merchandise on their (e-Bay) website, and fill out the exact information needed to register as a seller. Furthermore, e-Bay asked its seller to specify a minimum bidding value for the buyers. If the buyer felt that the price was more than the actual value or unjust, the merchandise did not get any bids. E-Bay was smart to further suggest to the sellers to keep the bidding value low to start off the bidding activity. Once the bidding was a success, e-Bay gave the seller and the buyer to exchange information in terms of shipping, warranty, and other concerning issues. In simple, e-Bay served as a communication source or a cooperation source that facilitated a close working relationship between consumers and the traditional sellers, allowing the sellers to reach beyond their localities.
