Africa has relations with all regions across the world. It has relations with the Americas, the European states as well as the Middle East. The Middle East is simply the region that contains the west Asian countries. These are countries like Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Uzbekistan, and Oman. The term Middle East was coined by the Europeans and is a synonym for the Near East especially while referring to the history. The largest ethnic group in this region is the Arabs. Middle East is the birthplace of many religions; the main one being Islam and Judaism. Egypt on the other hand is a country which is on the African continent. Egypt is a transcontinental country situated mainly within North Africa, Sinai Peninsula forming a land bridge into South West Asia (Middle East). Egypt is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the North, the Gaza strip and Israel to the North East. Egypt is one of the most famous countries in Africa. Many people in Egypt live near the Nile which is a source of food as well as strength to their economy. Egypt has one of the longest histories of any modern state having been the cradle of civilization and a lot of the knowledge that exists today. Egypt is very famous for its pyramids which were built during ancient times. Egypt is considered as a middle power and has a very diverse economy which has sectors like tourism, agriculture, industry and services.

A common thing between the Middle East and North African countries one of them being Egypt, is the common religion and the oil that is found in these regions. There are several reasons to why Egypt is a key player in the Africa-Middle East relations. These reasons are explained below.
