The technology world has evolved so fast that if you are not aware what is out right now then you are lost. We have see am/fm walkman stereo, portable cd player ,mp3 , ipod , iphone and now the IPAD to make it in the eyes of the news and the public. Some of these products have had the public literally stand in long lines for long hours just to have it in their hands no matter how the economy has been. “For better or worse, most people have virtually unlimited wants”(MCConnell,2009). Currently in the Associated Press, it has reported that more than 300,000 iPads were sold on the first day it hit the market. The iPad is said to download more than a million applications and more that 250,000 ebooks from it iTunes. “Many companies have tried to sell tablet computers before, but none has caught on with mainstream consumers. Apple's iPad comes at a time when people have even more Internet-connected gadgets -- smart phones, laptops, e-book readers, set-top boxes and home broadband connections -- and it may need to work harder to persuade people to buy yet another device that serves many of the same purposes”(Mintz, J,2010, Associated Press). Apple comes out with the iPad in a good time with the economy grow slightly and know that the public would love to be able to walk around the pad so small and light weight. People are intrigued with the advance technology that they get overwhelm that they have to have it. At time it seems there their wants for luxury items is more than the essential. The current selling price for the iPad is starting at $499 with Wi-Fi and there will be a second wave through the cellular network for $629. Apple is forecasting more sales throughout the year of 2010.
