Create a list of strategies for managing conflict in the learning team.

* Be resolved to embrace the conflict and make a resolution immediately, giving full consideration to all team members involved.

* Be strategic in anticipating potential causes of conflict to manage your emotions and response when trying to manage and alleviate the conflict.

* Identify ways for collaboration and a division on labor, respecting the strengths of each team member, and prepare for anyone to express his or her beliefs or opinions freely to minimize conflict.

* Communicate with respect and dignity keeping feelings of others in mind. It is fine to be assertive as long as you can accept responsibility for your own role, and shortcomings. In this way others don’t feel so accused and the conflict can most likely be resolved faster.

* Be sensitive to the personal feelings of the team members. If someone is uncomfortable dealing with an issue, then you need to figure out a way to help them through it.

* Be objective and have empathy for the situation. There may be underlying issues that are not being verbalized. It may take some time to get to the root of the problem.

* Encourage long-time employees to be a role model for newer employees. Experience and knowledge of a company, and their position on issues, goes a long way. Help new employees get over hurdles that you yourself have had to deal with before.

* Be appreciative of the fresh ideas of the newer employees. Sometimes tunnel vision can affect those employees who have been around a long time.
