Multiple Intelligences and Their Impact on Communication

Abstract

The understanding of multiple intelligence styles has acquired over the last years, a significant amount of awareness among individuals, searching for factors that affect communication and the connections whit the effectiveness in a business environment. Although we all possess different types of multiple intelligences, only two or three stand out, and control how we communicate effectively. From people who develop their skills in communication by observing and understanding others, individuals who organize their ideas in tables, graphics, etc. to find solutions to their problems, to even those that use their logic to figure out some problems and find a solution, multiple intelligences in general have a common ending; communication of their results.

Multiple Intelligences and Their Impact on Communication

While leadership challenges will continue to heighten due to internal and external organizational pressures, the shortage of executive talent is seen to be the foremost challenge organizations will face within the next few decades (Crainer & Dearlove, 1999). Business communication considers multiple elements that are accomplished with the experience acquired through the years, and are not directly related to a specific position at some industry. Being able to understand the different types of multiple intelligence, their contribution to our society and the way the permit us to interact and evolve in different aspects of our lives, have been found to be of great interest for academics and business leaders, who seek to find and reestablish their strengths and weaknesses to guarantee a productive business communication.
