NEW PARTNERSHIP
UNILEVER France chooses STEF’s mutualised transport solution for its portfolio of
margarines, fats, sauces and condiments
UNILEVER, a world leader in food, health, beauty and cleaning consumer products has trusted STEF, the
European specialist for cold logistics, with the logistics of its margarines, fats, sauces and condiments in
northern France. STEF won the contract with ia range of innovative global services which includes the pooling
of transport means.
.
Transport pooling: a win/win solution
Manufacturers of consumer goods must reconcile contradictory objectives: reduced CO2 emissions and more
frequent deliveries to retailers. The pooling of transport resources, which increases load factors while cutting
costs, offers a solution. STEF’s innovation was to offer Unilever and two other manufacturers using the STEF
Plessis-Belleville logistics platform, to mutualisation transport resources without increasing operational
constraints. This solution enables Unilever and manufacturing partners to benefit from savings derived from
this mutualisation without the drawbacks of a shared flow management, independently of volumes delivered.
STEF manages this pooling solution, based on three key pillars:
Guaranteeing the compatibility of participating manufacturers logistics;
Analysing orders and the economical impact of sharing manufacturers’ deliveries ;
Synchronising the delivery schedules of participating manufacturers.
STEF services offered at its Plessis-Belleville logistics platform include the reception of goods, storage, order
picking, co-packing and forwarding to retailers’ platforms in the Nord of France and logistics platforms
dedicated to restaurants and food catering all over France.
The UNILEVER / STEF partnership :
100 processed product references
close to 40,000 tons of merchandise processed per year
55 truck departures per week
a 86% fill-in rate
a 4,200 pallets...
