A Suicidal Death

On August 5th, 1962, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Police received a call at 4:25 am from Dr. Ralph Greenson, Marilyn Monroe’s psychiatrist, proclaiming that the Blonde Bombshell was found dead by her housekeeper Eunice Murray. The 36 year old sex icon was discovered lying in her bed naked, while her house phone was still intact with her hand, and an empty bottle of sleeping pills were lying next to her. Marilyn Monroe’s death stunned the world as she was carried on a stretcher out of her Brentwood, California home. She was a strong willed and unique woman, who had a lifetime of fame ahead of her. Marilyn was a dazzling, seductive, extraordinary All-American Sex Goddess, a superstar legend with magnetic energy that captured the eyes of the world. Unfortunately, the smiles and laughter only hid what she really felt; a tragic childhood, stressful events during her career, and years of insecurities that led to a suicidal death.

Norma Jeane Baker, mostly known as Marilyn Monroe, was born on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California. She was a quintessential actress, singer, model, and showgirl, who became one of the most enduring sex symbols of all time. Before her fame escalated, the Blonde Bombshell’s childhood was an unhappy one facing a youth of cruelty and poverty. It was characterized by neglect and emotional heartache. Marilyn endured numerous foster homes and orphanages which stemmed into possible sexual abuse and various assaults from her foster parents. Marilyn was never acknowledged by her father; in fact, she had never met him nor was she sure of who her father really was. Her mother, Gladys Pearl Monroe Baker, was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, a largely inherited mental condition, when she was later placed in a mental institution (Frost 116).
