Music Assignment

I will be writing about my musical journey with music. I had listen to in Childhood, adolescent, comfort, and stress to help me through these periods of music. I will be answering a series of questions about my music that had listen too. I will name artists and their songs that affected me through these times. Lastly, I will give detail into my musical journey through artists and songs to explain my life.

1. What music do you associate with childhood? I listen to R&B, Gospel, Rap, Pop, and Country. How did/does this music make you feel? They made me feel free to express myself through song and dance. How do your choices reflect your childhood experiences? In the R&B category I remember listening to in the early 80’s to Artist Marvin Gaye song Sexual Healing. I remember thinking to myself this song is good song and he made me want to sing every word. But, I did not understand the lyrical purpose of the song. Since, I was about the age of 6 or 8 years old in the 80's. Also, remember listen the Rap music it was Run DMC, the song was Walk this Way. I remember seen the rapper rapping their song and Aerosmith was singing their song and next rapper was join by these white group call Aerosmith to rap and sing Walk this way. This was a time I seen both white and black combine their musical style to record a phenomenal video. This day I still love Sexual Healing and Walk this Way as song that I relate to my childhood. Also, remember listening to Lionel Richie song called All Night Long. It made me think if you had a party you had to stay up All Night Long literally.

2. What music do you associate with adolescence? There is one Artist her name is Janet Jackson. I have listened to all her song through my adolescence. Was this music a way to fit in or rebel? I believe this was way to fit and rebel. Because, I listen to her because, she was a popular singer that I grew up with from a...
