Birth: December 28th 1856 Virginia

Death: February 3rd 1924 Washington D.C

II. Background- He completed his doctoral dissertion and got a PhD in history and political science at Johns Hopkins University. He also once coached football and founded the debate team at Weselyn university. He came from a giving Presbyterian family and attended Princeton, Davidson and UOV and passed his lawyer bar test easily, before he bacame heavily involved in politics.

IV. Prominent Issues of the Election-

1-Prohibition was a big issue at the time. Wilson being a progressive but sober appealed to both wet and drys. Another issue was appealing to the people through how much govermment the candidate intended to be involved in the citizens lives. Wilson was against large monopilies but also believed in limited government.

2- This election was more difficult for wilson to win because the Republican candidate had a track record very similar to his own. Wilson did though use the slogan “he kept us out of war” which was very true. Wilson did though have to be truthful about not being afraid to enter the war if the nations security was at risk. This did not gain him points for those strictly against war.
