Hello Students,

We hope your term is ending on a strong note!

This email is to inform you of your options in case you are:

1. sick or ill for one or more of your exams during the exam period

and/or

2. you marginally fail (grade of “FM”) a course.

If neither of the above situations pertains to you, then you may disregard this email. However, if you were sick and missed an exam, or if you earn an “FM” in one or more of your courses, please continue reading.

1. If you were sick and missed an exam:

If you are ill for a final exam, you must submit medical documentation to the Undergraduate Advising Office within a seven day period of missing the exam. You will then write the makeup exam for the core course during the Supplementary Exam/Makeup exam period (May 6th- May 9th). You will want to review the “Winter 2012-2013 Supplementary/Makeup Exam Schedule” and make note of the date that you will be writing your makeup exam. It is always at the discretion of the professor as to whether or not your medical documentation will be accepted and if you are permitted to write a makeup exam. If you will not be in the province and/or country during the scheduled makeup exam period, you will want to reference the document: “Outside Universities offering Invigilation” and arrange individual invigilation for you to write your exam. The exam must be invigilated on the same date and time as the exam is being written here at Dalhousie.

2. If you marginally fail (grade of “FM”) a course

If you are struggling with a core course please review the supplementary exam information attached: “Winter 2012-2013 Supplementary/Makeup Exam Schedule”, “Supplementary Examination Application”, “New Supplementary Exam Procedures for Students”, “Outside Universities offering Invigilation”.
