On March 5th, 2012, a 30 minutes documentary was launched on youtube. The documentary was made by a non profit organization named Invisible Children in San Diego, California. The film is directed and narrated by Joseph Russell who explain the film's subject and their mission at the beginning of the video.A video is about Joseph Kony, who terrorized people in Uganda, Central African Republic, The Democratic Republic of Congo, and both Sudan for 25 years. Kony has kidnapped thousands of children in these regions and turned boys to soldier and girls to sex slaves. Kony is known in the world for his army that named Resistance Army and he considers himself as a Lord of this army. Children are forced to fight, kill others and then cut off the nose and lips of their victims. Most of these children must kill their family members, which bring for them many psychological problems. After launching the movie on Monday the afternoon, the movie went viral on youtube, Facebook, and twitter so fast and it grabbed worldwide attention. Many celebrities like Oprah, George Clooney, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Kristen Bell and Jason Bateman talked about the movie and support a campaign that is called Kony 2012. The aim of all of these people as well as the producer of the film was awareness of people in the world about the issue. Ben Keesey, the CEO of Invisible Children, said:" Kony is arguably the World's worst war criminal, but he's now widely known outside of central Africa, where communities live in daily fear of attack by his force. This campaign will change that, increased attention should be accompanied by increased action to stop Kony from attacking civilians" ( 11) According to Research Film Visible Measurement, the 30 minute documentary was watched more than 100 million times in six days and became the most viral video in the history (Kabuye).
