After W. W. II the US and the Soviet Union became the two most dominant countries causing their alliance to break and causing them to become enemies instead. The Soviet Union was communist and wanted to control all the other countries. They let their greed and hunger for power gets the best of them though. They tried to take advantage of the devastated countries around them. But, the United States was not about to have that happen. The United States stepped up and tried to prevent this from happening as well as give help and support to the countries that needed it.
Policies and practices from the American Cold War had a positive influence on the international relations because they helped the countries who needed to be helped. This, more then likely brought them to be favored by the other countries making a sturdy alliance. This weakened the Soviet Union’s chance at succeeding in taking over the countries that could not defend themselves because of the devastation brought on by World War II. In 1949, Canada, France, the Netherlands, the United States, Belgium, Great Britain, and Luxembourg gathered together and established the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to create peace amongst the countries. They then worked together to try to save Germany and Korea which, put them back at their starting point. But, in the end we gained some very valuable alliances.
