In this study between the fetus and newly born babies, the author expresses to us his/her
point of view on the growth and development that takes place. The study goes deeply into what
the fetus experiences in the womb. Research proves that the experiences are very similar to that
of a newborn baby .Most of the significant fetal experiences takes place around 32 weeks
gestation, before the baby is to term. The study has created a new light on the image of the fetus,
using high tech monitoring equipment that allow researchers to observe the fetus while in the
womb. The most important information collected that supports the conclusion, are the ability of
and unborn child to have experiences that are the same as some of the thing that humans outside
of the womb, such as REM, known as Rapid Eye Movement, and they ability for the fetus to
demonstrate a few of the senses.
The fetus sleeps 90 to 95% of the time at around 34 weeks gestation. Of that time it can fall
into deeper sleep pattern and experience REM. It also shows signs of being alert and able to
move around when not asleep. The article state that the fetus explores it’s surroundings
including touching it’s face and other body parts. The fetus can also hear and provides evidence
by reacting to sudden loud sounds by jerking in the womb. It can also hear and recognize
familiar or strange voices .The fetus can also experience taste and may get a custom to certain
foods one out of the womb. Although the fetus cannot actually see, it can react to bright lights
that shine through the mothers tissues. These bright lights can be used as stimulate the fetus,
but researchers warn that exposing the fetus to light to early may cause retinal damage.
