Today at the high line I was taken by surprise. I thought it was going to be just an old train track that was deserted. Instead it was a nice high-rise park in a good area. I noticed how it was very art oriented and there was a lot of construction in the area. I liked that the park had a history and that it was saved from being demolished. It gives an insight into how the industrial parts of the city use to operate. I even noticed that the train tracks led to the water leading to the thought that that was the way in which the goods were taken to cargo ships. The park had the train tracks on their original form on the side of the path with the natural plants that grew on them, which is unique to the park. It also provides nice views of the west side of Manhattan. There was artwork all around on the buildings whether it was paintings on the sides of buildings or even the graffiti on the buildings. I especially liked the section where you sit down and it makes it look like, from the streets that you’re in a billboard. You can interact with the people on the street looking up. I noticed a lot of people just hanging out enjoying the weather too and it gave a sense of calmness in a busy city. It is also a nice walk from 30th to down to the 16th street, which is the furthest I walked. It was a better walk than walking down 10th avenue with all of the traffic around. Overall, I enjoyed this experience considering I didn’t even know this park existed, its nice to find out about and experience new areas in the city.
