Abstract

The three cases I most found on the web were all similar. They had to do with sexual misconduct from the teacher. It is very appalling that now this world is so corrupted and innocent children are being so exploited with the many things that happen in the schools all because some adults just can’t control and behave in a manner that has to be appropriate for children. I can’t imagine what goes through their mind when they play on innocent children minds to take advantage of them. I personally think that it is sickening knowing that teachers behave in such a manner that makes the good teachers look bad.

Code of Conduct Issue

The first case I found was from a teacher from Ansonia, Connecticut. This particular teacher had put up a “My Space” page for students to communicate with the teacher about homework assignments. Another teacher went on that web site and found out that the teacher had put inappropriate pictures and comments on his page. This case happened in October of 2008. The other teacher had told her colleague to discontinue with the page in which he did. Later she found out that he had a new page and then she reported it to the school administrators. In essence he had to take administrative leave and was not able to renew his teaching contract with the district. He then pursued his rights as the right of free speech the court ruled that even though he has his rights of free speech the students were being disrupted from their learning process and they were uncomfortable with how the teacher was talking to them. The court said that there was evidence of the complaints from the students to another teacher and in her affidavit stated that they were not comfortable talking to the teacher.
