Experiment 5.2: Study of Oscilloscope and Its Operation

Objectives:

i) To study the different functional blocks and Controls of an Oscilloscope.

ii) To setup an oscilloscope for experimentation.

Procedures:

2.1: Probe Check Wizard

Procedures:

1. On the power of oscilloscope. Conformation be waited and passed the self-tests.

2. CHI probe tip connected to PROBE COMP. Probe tipped to 5V and clipped to ground.

3. Probe Check button was pressed.

4. The probe attenuation will checked and corrected accordingly as shown in figure.

5. Button yes selected. The change in the oscilloscope was noticed on the Probe Attenuation right hand side and also Probe checked on CHI Passed on the bottom left of the oscilloscope.

6. The probe has to be checked before using because having the wrong attenuation will give unexpected result which lead to wrong reading.

2.2: Default Setup and Autoset

2.2.1 Default Setup

Procedures:

1. On the oscilloscope power. Conformation has to be waited and passed the self-test

2. Probe to CHI connected to the oscilloscope.

3. Probe’s tip was connected to 5V and the corocodile clip to the Ground of the oscilloscope.

4. Default Setup button was pressed.

5. The result will be appeared on the left hand side after pressed a “Default Setup Recalled”.

2.2.2: AutoSet

Procedures:

1. On the oscilloscope power. Conformation has to be waited and passed the self-tests.

2. Steps 2 to 5 were repeated of the Default Setup.

3. AutoSet button was pressed

4. “Square wave or pulse detected on CHI” will appear once autoset was completed.

2.3: Capturing 100KHz Wave

Procedures:

1. On the oscilloscope power. The confirmation has to be waited and passed the self-tested
