Application Architecture

When designing the application architecture, there are many things to consider. What hardware is best? What is the best type of architecture to use, server-based, client-based, or a client-server based architecture? What kind of network will be needed to support the system? These are all good questions, but the best question to answer first is what software will be used?

Finding the software first is important since different software has different requirements. If the servers are purchased first, they may not meet the requirements of the software. In addition to this, the service states that Riordan Manufacturing would like the existing tools to all be integrated. Not all available software will be able to do this.

Riordan Manufacturing currently has no standard in data entry, and has different systems currently in place at each plant. To integrate all of these systems, software with several options would be best. Kronos workforce management is that software. Kronos started with a simple idea, that "there had to be an easier way to record employee time transactions" (Kronos, 2013) Since then and after several innovations, that idea grew into Kronos' workforce management software. Kronos believes that "customers shouldn't have to trade functionality for simplicity and have to compromise their expectations for great service".(Kronos, 2013)

Kronos is also very versatile. Many Human Resource systems have requirements that need to be met in order to be fully integrated and used. Kronos will work to build a system that meets any customers needs, even if it involves full integration in a company that has several current systems in place. Kronos also offers several different suites so the end product is completely customized and the company gets exactly what they want.
