Health Care Policy Advertising
In preparation for this assignment I realized that I didn’t recall seeing any health care policy advertising. I do not watch television often, and I rarely listen to the radio. So I had to do some research online. During my research, I found several commercial ads that were against The Affordable Care Act. In seeing these few ads I do not think that advertising health care policies are a good idea. Media advertising tries to alter one’s opinion on the policy without providing any of the facts. According to Goodnough (2012), 235 million dollars has been spent on ads attaching The Affordable Care Act since being signed into law in March 2010 and 69 million dollars has been spent supporting it. A private organization will only promote health care policies that benefit the organization, whereas a government agency will promote all health care policies that affect the public. I personally think it is best for both agencies not to use public media to promote health care policies, but just to inform the public of the health care policies. Taking sides when it comes to health care is a dangerous game for both...
