Hell’s Kitchen
(CHEF JOHN with his hand against the wall talks into the phone. The sound of food cooking and restraint noises fills the kitchen behind him.)
CHEF JOHN
So the two crates we need are sitting somewhere in Pennsylvania? How the hell am I suppose to run a restaurant with no food! (Pauses to listen) Half off!? You might as well take it back! We’re already going to run out this weekend and by the time it gets here I could have already found someone else willing to do their job and bring me my god damn shipments on time. (Pauses to listen) No I don’t want to speak to your manager and don’t bother sending the truck here because I won’t pay.
(CHEF JOHN slams the phone back into its holster and rubs his forehead. SANDRA enters the kitchen. CHEF JOHN watches her as she passes through then back out the double doors.)
LINE COOK MIKE
Wow. If it’s not to cliché, let me just point out that it is one fine cut of meat.
CHEF JOHN
You know you’re an idiot on most occasions, but I even have to agree with that. And you’re welcome for the scenery.
LINE COOK MIKE
Yeah, Julia never would have hired her. No way in hell would she want THAT walking around.
CHEF JOHN
She still doesn’t. All I heard about for two weeks was (mimicking women’s voice) “why did you hire her? It’s because she’s hot isn’t it.”
LINE COOK MIKE
Well you didn’t hire her because of what she’s got up here (points to his head) but what she’s got…
(MIKE motions down his body and winks at JOHN. JULIA walks in to see MIKE running his hands down his side.)
JULIA
Really MIKE? Your first step out of the closet was towards my husband. Shoot for the fry boy before...
