In business today, sometimes we need to sit back and take a broad view of the business to get a better idea of how it functions and operates. Maybe you’re analyzing a company you mean to invest in, or seeing traits about a certain company. You can do this by creating a SWOT Analysis, which is the analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to a business. Let’s take a look at a company, Intel. The world’s largest supplier of semiconductor chips in the world. These semiconductor chips can be classified into various things, but my main focus will be on what the company itself focuses on, processor chips for all computing devices.

The processor and semiconductor business has very few competitors, Advanced Micro Devices is the biggest competitor but it is merely a fly on the wall to Intel. Millions of people everyday use computers with some sort of Intel chip inside whether it’s a processor, motherboard chipset, or solid state hard drives. All computers, whether it’s a personal computer or a register at a grocery store, require a processor. Intel has its hand in everything making everything that has to do with a computer which we hold so dearly. Without Intel creating the framework for computing today, you have no computer, smartphone, or businesses that run on computer networks. This is Intel’s biggest strength, as each year goes by, technology triples in capacity, speed, and uniqueness. If you by a new computer with Intel chips inside, you have about a month window until there’s going to be something bigger and better out there for you. This may be one of Intel’s greatest strengths. There never going away in today and tomorrow’s society. Technology runs just about everything that we as humans touch. The company itself was the first producer of microprocessors in 1968 when we didn’t even know what computers were.
