Six Dimensions of Health Worksheet

Part 1

For each of the following six dimensions of health, list at least one characteristic, activity, belief, or attitude that reflects that dimension in your life. Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions.

Physical health: I am a naturally thin person. I find this to be dangerous at times because it’s easy to look in the mirror and think to myself that I’m fit when in fact I am not in the best shape that I can be. Due to this reason I make it to the gym three times a week to work on my cardio along with strength training and stretches.

Social health: My social health is very important to me as I utilize it on a daily basis. I work in human resources and with that carries a responsibility to have great interpersonal relationships with the employees, co-workers and management that I am around.

Intellectual health: Intellectual health is vital for me in my life. This not only covers my personal life but covers my professional life as well. I am constantly working to improve my analyzing and critical thinking abilities in order to meet life’s challenges effectively.

Environmental health: I just moved to Virginia from NYC. New York has one of the best mandatory recycling programs compared to any other state. It is very extensive. I appreciated the program because I knew that I was living in an area that was trying to make a difference on the world’s environmental health. I do wish Virginia would consider incorporating a program like this however my household will continue to do the best we can in improving, protecting and preserving the environment.

Emotional health: I believe I am better able to control my emotions at work versus at home. This is something I know I need to improve in order to have a better overall emotional health.
