Question 1.

Identify the operations management problems that Dr. Barr is having at the clinic?

Answer 1.

Based on the reading I believe there are three key points that I believe are major issues. I think

the reasons why Dr. Barr is having operation management problems are because there is

scheduling problems between herself, her staff and also Dr. Yen. Another reason is the way they

operate the business, their inventory systems is a huge issue because it lacks the amount of up to

date technology usage, if they had the newest line of technology they would be better off. The

last reason I believe there are operation management problems is because they have an improper

operation systems, they need to come up with a great ideal of bettering their current systems so

that it works in everyone favor on their daily tasks.

Question 2.

The schedule Dr. Barr set up worked well at the clinic where she was a resident. What are some

of the reasons why it might not be working here?

Answer 2.

Just from understanding where she has come from and what she is use to the main reason why

there is an issue with the schedule where she is now is because they haven’t established the

business need. The need to put the right amount of people in staff at all times when it is needed.

The schedule now isn’t set up based on the clinic busiest time. I don’t think Dr. Barr doesn’t

understand how her business operates on a day to day basis.

Identify some of the reasons why the clinic is having inventory problems?

Answer 3.

Due to the main issue of the lack of up to date equipment the technology is losing its relevance

within the company. Dr. Barr should implement an inventory management system to avoid
