IOP Proposal

1. My final decision for the IOP is to do a stop motion on how Jane’s inner fire guides her through her journey from Gateshead to Thornfield. I chose this format because I find this part of Jane’s character very unique and rather intriguing. As the text progresses, although Jane is constantly maturing both positively and negatively, she still holds a consistent innate inner fire.

2. The purpose of my presentation is to show how Jane’s inner fire guides her through her journey from Gateshead to Thornfield. Throughout the text, even though Jane gradually matures in different aspects, including emotion, religion, education and social status, her consistent inner fire is the building block behind these changes. I hope to demonstrate how Jane’s inner fire affects her character change through a variety of symbolic elements, such as the people and things she meets on her journey, and the color change of the background.

3. The stop motion will be on Jane’s journey from Gateshead to Thornfield. On her journey, she will be meeting different people and things each representing her distinct personalities during the period of time. The color of the background will change according to her mood. The consistent red paint on her shirt will be representing her unswerving inner fire, guiding her through the entire journey. The stop motion will be in video form. It will be taped beforehand and presented during class with a video walkthrough and a power point afterwards. In the power point, I will be explaining my main point with supporting evidences from the book, along with my own interpretations.
