Abstract
Alcoholism, the disease passed on from generation to generation, affecting the people in our society physically and mentally, yet considered a socially acceptable drug of choice. The purpose of this paper is to inform others about alcoholism’s history, and focus on the causes, treatment, and prevention; further discussion will include information from a Christian worldview perspective. Causes for this addiction will vary from genetic factoring, to onsets brought on by socially accepted behaviors. Different methods of prevention include--therapeutic intervention, and various treatment approaches, traditional and non-traditional methods, for this disorder which will be reviewed in addition to the results; each person’s addiction experience will vary and therefore so will the results. The research done for this essay was done to examine how alcoholism affects different aspects of someone’s life, and those around them; examining education, prevention, treatment, perspectives, causes, and ideas for further research comparing the theories learned throughout my experience at Liberty University.
