My Voyage Through the Body
Good evening everyone! My name is Noemy Bertarello, and I am one of the top reporters for the KSBW channel 8 News in Monterey, California. I feel very excited today because I get to report on an exclusive. This story is about the most important medical advancement of our century. It is the year 3000 and I am reporting from the University of Santa Monica where they have discovered a way to shrink, to microscopic size, a vessel that resembles a submarine in order to inject it into the body for exploratory purposes and to conduct surgeries and other procedures from within the body. I used to be a nurse so therefore, because of my background in medicine I have been chosen to report on this remarkable process and have been asked to accompany the doctors on this first trip inside the human body. I have been injected into the body of a healthy 30 year old female patient with a small team of doctors on this first voyage inside the human body. Our crew consists of two doctors, a nurse, a medical assistant and me.
We began our trip by entering the body through the right femoral vein located in the thigh. Shortly afterwards we received a message that an unknown bacterial infection was detected in the lower lobe of the right lung and was causing the patient to have trouble breathing. We have been ordered to travel to this area and find out what type of bacteria is causing the problem, observe the body as it fights the bacteria and if needed to help the body fight the bacteria by administering the right antibiotics to kill the bacteria. The vessel is armed with antibiotic torpedoes that can be fired into the bacteria by the doctors on board. From the femoral vein we started to travel up towards the lungs. We get to the great saphenous but decide not take that road because it would lead us down in the opposite direction....
