Monsters Inc

        The fictional Monsters, Inc. from the movie, “Monster’s Inc.” is a utility company that uses human children’s screams to power the city of Monstropolis.  The monsters of Monstropolis depend on Monsters, Inc. to not only provide the energy but to also employ the cities’ families.  The company’s design is that the children’s screams create energy and this energy can be used to power the city. Unfortunately, Monstropolis is in the middle of an energy crisis because kids are becoming harder to scare, and good scaring talent is hard to find.

The organization of Monsters, Inc. is led by the company’s CEO, Mr. Hennery J. Waternoose III.  Mr Waternoose has a top-down management style. He formed groups, or teams, to work together on the Scare Floor.  Teams like James P. Sullivan, aka Sully and Mike Wazowski. They are the company’s number one frighteners. This team is able to exceed company goals regularly. Sully and Mike had referent power when they were asked to be in the company commercial. Other monsters identified with Sully and Mike’s desirable resources and personal traits. This power is positively related to employee satisfaction and organizational commitment.  Mr Waternoose, used inspirational appeals and ingratiation to inspire Sully. He gave Sully VIP treatment and showed him off at the training room. This celebrity status also created rivals like Randall Boggs.  Randall and his teammate work hard like the rest of the teams, but Randall has a chip on his shoulder.  What is good about these groups is that they have comradery with the other groups on the Scare Floor. Sully and Mike are constantly appraised by the other teams and company’s CEO, Mr. Waternose. This good ends up also creating a competitiveness that almost closes Monsters, Inc.’s doors.

The company’s interest is to only scare the children. The job should be an in-and-out. If the monster happens to get any piece of the children’s room stuck on them, they are quarantined and stripped...
