Quality: The U.S. Health Care System

Ideally, when the topic of quality health care is discussed many studies are concluding that quality is becoming less than acceptable for many areas of the U.S. health care system. Various reasons that support these inadequacies stem from lack of sound communication between the patient and the providers, the change of a manual tracking process to newer technology, price increases that affect the overall administration process, measures that make it complicated to oversee the performance of providers, inadequacies in demographics, no consistency between patient and employees due to employment turnover, and lack of assurance in knowing that needs will be meet at all levels of the health care system. While it might be true that the U.S. health care system is bridled with concerns about the degree to which health services for individuals is taking shape, the anticipated health results are creating bigger concerns for access and effectiveness that are being challenged from day to day in connecting with the existing provider care knowledge and the advances in modern day technology.

With the industry of health care at the top of the list for many, quality of care will play a major role in making many decisions concerning accountability and policy development to assist in access and effectiveness for consumers. To get the necessary care needed and to make the determination as to if the care is effective and efficient when services are rendered; quality of care has to be a part of the planning process. Over the past decade, both public and private organizations have made great strides in working together to identify the need and areas that have shifted. Factors such as aging, changes in demographics, increase in population, and work areas decisions of physicians is having an impact on the quality of care that many are receiving.
