OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

1. INTRODUCTION

It is an area of management concerns with overlooking, designing, and controlling the process of production and redesigning business operations in the production of goods or services. It makes sure those business operations are efficient (by using minimum resources needed) and effective in meeting customer requirements. It relates to the process of managing human resources in achieving required results or services. From commercial aspect it can be said that relationship between the senior management and operations management is just like the relationship of senior military officers and junior field officers who carries field operations under the supervision of senior officers.

In the following research we will study operations management system of TESCO a well known multinational company. Tesco now operates 923 stores and employs a total of 240, 000 people all over the world.
