Sociological Imagination

The sociological imagination is a way of looking at things that will allow one to see a situation from a sociological standpoint, which will help us to understand why some things happen and why people make certain choices in life. Having a sociological imagination is important to have in order to break free from the day-to-day view on things. Failing to use the sociological imagination will result in an individual being stuck in their own lives, without any understanding of why they make choices, and how to better themselves and their lives.

Although not everyone agrees, sociology is a very important aspect of our society today. While individuality and independence are highly respected in our society, how all of the individuals work together as a whole cannot be ignored. That, in fact, is what makes up our society in general. With all of the different sociologists throughout time, we have learned a great deal about how society works and why people do certain things. While some things are random and have no logical reason behind them, many follow a pattern of others within our society. There is a large and important difference between an individual making a decision for themselves, and an individual making a choice that has a sociological reasoning behind it. This is why sociology is a very important aspect in our lives, and an important discipline to study. Sociology can help us to understand why we make decisions and do things in life every single day. It can help us to better ourselves by changing the roads we take, and learn from the mistakes of others. Sociology helps us to better ourselves by fully and truly understanding ourselves as a society.
