FOREIGN TRADE VALUE AND VOLUME BETWEEN TURKEY AND EU PARTNERS COVERING YEARS 2002-2011
From January to June period, the export figures in the last decade, Turkey’s exports
increased by 352.8 percent and reached $16.4 billion to 74.3 billion. During the same period ,
exports ton on-EU countries increased by 519.7 percent, rising to $72 billion to $44.9 billion.
The EU in 2002-2012, exports to $91 billion in the January-June period rise to $29.4 billion
increased by 230.8 percent. The EU’s share in Turkey’s exports overseing the upward until
2007, fell to 50 percent in 2008. there is some improvement in exports between 2002-2012
years. Turkey’s export was $36 billion in 2002. As of this year, despite the global economic
crisis, our country’s exports reached $135 billion in 2011 Turkey’s export consist of different
country region. These are European Union (%46), Eastern countries (%21), other European
countries %10, African countries (%8), Asian countries (%8), American countries (%6). In
2011, expors to all region increased but with the increasing share of exports in the only
country in Eastern countries.
On the other hand, in 2012 January-May period, compared to the same period last year, an
increase of 12 percent of Turkey’s exports reached $61 billion , the Minister yazıcı noted that
imports of 96.7 billion dollars is decreased of 2 percent and a decrease of 17 percent of the
foreign trade deficit of $35.5 billion. The European Union export share of 48.2% in june 2011
drapped to 37% in june 2012. Exports to EU a decreased of 10% compared to the same
amount of 2011 arrounted to 4.926 million dollars. Iran was exporting most of the country in
june 2012. Exports to these countries increased by 471.21. In 2011 compared to june 1.594
