To whom this may concern:
My decision on the heart was extremely difficult. On Tuesday, September 06, 2011 I made the decision based on life expectancy and a need. Mr. Jerry age 55 is the candidate I have chosen for this heart transplant. With this transplant he has a better chance of surviving at least 10 years. He seems to have learned from any mistakes that have gotten him this far and has no know long term health problems besides needing a transplant.
There were other candidates and though I am sure they are respectable people and are in need of this transplant I don’t feel that any of the other candidates are the right chose.
Ms. Lisa is not the right candidate at this time. Our hospital is in need of money but I don’t think it would be in the best interest of this hospital to make that a validating point and be the reason we choose Lisa for the transplant. She suffers from lifelong illnesses one which caused her heart to fail once. Her life expectancy is in her late teens. She may need a transplant or several to prolong her life past her 20’s. She will have to wait on the list until another heart becomes available. Mr. Jerry is a higher priority at this time.
Mr. Ozzie was also another candidate for this particular heart transplant. But do to his recent drug abuse I feel that he should be given some time before a decision on his heart should be made. If he would proclaim to be clean and sober for a number of months then he may be ready to be put a little higher on the transplant list. Until that time my decision for this transplant will remain to go to Mr. Jerry. The AB Negative Heart is in route to Harrison Hospital and Mr. Jerry will be prepped for surgery at 2100 hours and surgery will proceed at 2230.
Sincerely,
