How Good is Your Time Management

After taking the “How Good is Your Time Management” quiz, I realized that overall I am effectively managing my time. The area, I feel as if I should work on the most is “Goal Setting.” I tend to not set goals which lead me to waste time trying to figure out what should be priority (MindTools). To improve in this area, I will begin to journal my goals for assignments at the beginning of the week ranking them in the level of importance and allocating enough time to complete the task to the best of my ability. By adding this step, I can improve my time management in both my schooling and professional life.

In life many of us will be faced with unexpected events, but how you plan for these events in the future will determine how much of an impact the event will have on you. For example, take being enrolled in this class. As a student in this class, the professor has provided you with a syllabus which include due dates for assignments. Being that this class is completely done on your own schedule it’s easier to allocate specific times for you to work on upcoming assignments. The key to being able to handle unexpected events is to not procrastinate on assignments and events you are aware of. Not waiting to the last minute to perform assignments will give you more breathing room in case the unexpected occurs. Set goals in the beginning of the week and stick to them to complete your work in a timely manner.

As an online learner, I believe to be successful one must be able to manage time well when it comes to prioritizing what assignments will take more time to complete. Typically, I am not a goal setter when it comes to assignments. My strategy for planning would be to review the information needed to complete the assignment. By reviewing, I will be able to come up with an estimated time span for how long it will take me to complete the assignment.
