List and describe at least three technologies that allow an individual to research citizens' private data.
There are different types of technologies that will allow an individual to research
a citizens' private data. Global Positioning System (GPS), Spy ware, and Social
Networking. Global positioning systems (GPS) is a navigation and precise-positioning
tool developed in the early seventy's by the department of defense. Although GPS was
originally designated for the military, its applications have extended into the public sector
to provide researchers the specific location of an individual. The global positioning
system is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time
information in all weather conditions, anywhere on or near the earth where there is an
obstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites.
Spy ware is any software that covertly gathers user information through the user's
internet connection without his or her knowledge usually for advertising purposes. Spy
ware applications are typically bundled as a hidden component of freeware or shareware
programs that can be downloaded from the internet. Spy ware is "designated to be
difficult for remove and the collection and transmission of information can be completed
without the individual's consent.
Social networking services are freely provided with and individual's private data.
Social networking services are web based platforms built to facilitate communications
between internet user, "when creating an account users disclose private information about
their social contracts and interests by including friends, business associates, and
