Drug Dependence is an addiction and can affect any individual such as an adult or a teenager. There are different types of drugs. What types can this be? A prescription drug which is once prescribed by a dentist or a doctor, most of all a narcotic drug used to treat pain are those that become very addicting. A street drug can be any narcotic drug to where another individual will buy. A person may have a medical condition such as high blood pressure or chronic pain which requires a person to take this medicine to maintain their quality of life, this might be considered ‘’drug dependence’’, but may not be a problem. Drug dependence becomes a health concern when an individual abuses illegal or prescription drugs. Intermittent abuse can evolve in dependence, eventually you can’t live a normal life without the drug. It may come to the use of larger doses or the use of other types of drugs to overcome the tolerance that develops with regular use.
