1. What are the communication challenges and barriers Marko faces? Justify your answer.

Marko faces barriers of age and culture. Employees are of different ages and came from diverse cultural and ethnical backgrounds. And, for many English is not their primary language. It will really be a big challenge to communicate certain messages to them. It requires different approach for every difference of them.

One more challenge is that his personal problems. His personal problems should not be brought to his workplace. As a professional you should separate your personal issues to the workplace.

2. What solutions might Marko consider in addressing each of these challenges and barriers?

Segmentation of employees is the solution to this. Marko must segment the employees based on their age, culture and ethnic backgrounds. He should also study every segment to know how to approach them. He should study the language and the way they speak to be able to communicate messages more clearly. For example teenagers has a different way of communicating than people on their early 50s.

3. What Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) would be helpful for Marko to implement and enforce? Set some organizational policies and structure.

He should implement policies like:

* Without proper training you can’t be put right into that job.

* Your job will only be what you are trained to do.

* Maintain the cleanliness of everything.

* Always keep in mind the ways of proper food handling.

* If someone is caught not following any instructions, rules or regulations, policies, etc. punishments should be given.

4. What are some ways Marko might use effective communication as a motivator for employees to follow safe food handling practices?
