Business Law Exam: HA2022

Guidance notes

1. The exam consists of three parts: part one - short answer questions, part two - case study and part three – critical thinking questions

2. Part one reviews general concepts and key features associated with remedies of a contract, intention to contract, terms of a contract and restraint of trade law.

3. Part two requires knowledge of the law of unconscionability.

4. Part three requires a review of two real consumer law cases.

5. Each part of the exam carries 20 marks. Maximum marks available are 60.

6. The exam is an open book exam. This means that the prescribed textbook (Gibson, A. & Fraser, D, Business Law, 6th edition, 2012, Pearson) and any other subject materials such as lecture and tutorial slides and notes are allowed.

7. A non-electronic dictionary is also allowed.

8. Although you are permitted to bring materials into the exam to assist your answers, you are instructed in each part to use your own words, examples, opinion and reasoning.

9. Copying from the various subject materials will result in no marks awarded.

10. Answer each question with a specifically tailored response to the question. Writing a general answer or writing general information on an issue or topic will result in no or low marks awarded.

11. During your revision period, summarise the relevant topics and understand them. Reliance on the subject material in the exam without prior foundational study will be apparent and result in no or low marks awarded.
