CheckPoint Business Ethics and Globalization

XMGT 216, Week

“Globalization is the development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade” (Merriam-Webster). This is the process that is used to increase world-wide exchange of national and cultural resources.

One ethical issue that has risen from globalization is the rise of unemployment in the United States and other developed countries. Because of the lower cost of labor in less developed countries many companies are outsources their manual worker jobs to less developed counties at a lower cost of lower. This results in more profit for the companies but has an adverse effect on the economy of the developed countries. (Quickley) The lower class families are those most affect by this globalization.

Another ethical issue is the way we are using the resources available to us worldwide. Many of the developed countries are always looking for new places to produce more fuel for the world and also more resources to sell to other countries. We as a world are using our natural wonders like the rainforests to find fuel and cutting down trees to make room for the equipment required to locate these resources. The effects of this is the destruction of our rainforest which affect wildlife for generations to come and also the rainforest can have a major impact on the future oxygen levels for the world and this can affect our ozone layer. (Quickley)

Another major issue is the development of the worldwide Internet. Most countries now have the ability to communicate with anyone all over the world, and this has increased the ability for thefts to commit crimes through the Internet and from country to country. Even with these issues the risks and consequences do not out way the benefits of these developments.
